The Shootout

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Every year, we have "the Great Magic Shootout," where Magicians from all over the world vie for some great prizes like free software, iPods, and more.

The real winners, of course, are everyone, because we all learn some of the amazing things eDeveloper can do!

The Shootout starts on Sunday May 6th at 6 pm, and continues until all the entries have been presented. The audience judges the entries on a set of scorecards. Winners are announced at the banquet Monday night.

So gentlemen (and women) ... start your engines!

The Prizes

The prizes are awarded as follows: the first place winner gets first pick of prizes, the second place winner gets second pick. etc. This is so you can choose what you really want! We usually have a good selection of prizes, so no one who enters goes home empty-handed. But some of our better prizes include:

The Rules

This year, the Great Magic Shootout focuses on the Discovery version of eDeveloper.

Bring your small application that you think would be a good beginning application for new eDevelopers. All entries will be judged by the audience for:

Creativity
Usefulness as a tool
Visual display
Usefulness for learning eDeveloper

In equal amounts.

All entrants are allowed 15 minutes to display their handiwork.

If you can't be there in person, you can send a 15-minute Camtasia demo and it will be played and judged along with the rest. We would like, if possible, to have Camtasia recordings of all the entries, to post in this website to show the great stuff eDeveloper can do.

Each entrant must provide a copy of what they show, which will be open source, and posted on the magicu-l files section and other places for download by anyone.
