Spent a few hours this morning going through your book. It is outstanding! The kind of book we all wish we had when we first started RPG, Cobol, VB, QuickBasic, …[fill in the blank.] Even made the section about inheritance understandable. -- Malcolm Rugeley, Denver, Colorado |
At Cabrita, we spend most of our time developing real-world applications. Our major application is an airline registration system that handles hundreds of reservations, both on the web and on-site. We've written many other systems too, and before we used eDeveloper, we were using C++ and COBOL and a variety of other languages which have since bit the dust. Our main programmers have each been writing code for over 25 years ... 15 of those in Magic/eDeveloper.
Why is this important? Because it means we know programming. It's what we do. We understand how difficult it is to pick up a copy of eDeveloper and try to understand it, with no coaching. We understand that the solution you need to a problem has to be easy to code and easy to maintain and work in the real world. We started writing programming books primarily to support our customers, and it's grown into a sideline. But that old saying "Those that can't do, teach" just doesn't apply here. We do, and we teach.
We also understand that everyone has a different learning style. Some of you want books you can carry around and mark with a highlighter. Others want PDFs you can print if you want. And others want eBooks that resize to your computer screen. Or maybe you want a "class on a disk" with a video to walk you through the process. So we provide material in all these formats; the choice is yours. We use Lulu to handle the distribution side. Lulu does a great job of providing great hardcopy books, but they can also provide CDs or DVDs or downloads.
